What is it?
The Hart Compleet blood test is an extensive package that examines the health of your heart. Heart and vascular diseases are the most common diseases, and we are developing atherosclerosis (vascular narrowing) at increasingly younger ages. Therefore, a preventive blood test is advisable, especially if you have a sedentary lifestyle and move less than 30 minutes per day.In this blood test, among other things, we measure everything about your cholesterol. More information about cholesterol can be found below. Cholesterol Blood Test We also measure kidney function, glucose, and a form of heart function.
If you experience chest pain during exertion, you should have a different test. For this, it is best to make an E-consult General Practitioner appointment.
What do we determine?
LDL CholesterolLDL stands for low-density lipoprotein. It is a fat molecule that can cause narrowing of the blood vessels, known as atherosclerosis. Therefore, LDL cholesterol is the less favorable cholesterol. Normally, LDL is broken down. If something is wrong with the breakdown, or too much is ingested through food, then cholesterol levels rise. This increases the risk of a heart attack (myocardial ischemia) or a stroke (cardiovascular accident, CVA).
HDL Cholesterol
HDL is called the beneficial cholesterol because it can bring other types of cholesterol back to the liver for breakdown. This way, they do not remain in the blood and do not cause damage.
Triglycerides
Triglycerides are fats that you get from food. These are broken down into fatty acids in the intestines and converted back into triglycerides in the liver. They are then distributed and broken down into usable molecules such as cholesterols.
Creatinine and eGFR
With these, we determine kidney function. People with heart problems often have narrowing of the arteries. The blood does not flow well, and as a result, the heart pumps harder. This is not good for the pressure in the renal artery, causing kidney damage.
HbA1C
With HbA1C, we can determine the blood sugar (glucose) level of the past two months to see if there are indications of diabetes.
NT-proBNP A high NT-proBNP is released with stretching of the heart wall. We often see this in heart failure, accompanied by symptoms of shortness of breath and fluid in the legs. This test is only determined if the age is over 50 years and symptoms are present.
Fasting
For the preventive Hart Compleet package for your health, it is important to be fasting for 12 hours before the blood test, so you can only consume water during this time. How does it work?
