What do we determine in an FSH and LH blood test?
FSH & LHFSH ( follicle-stimulating hormone) is an important factor for sexual development. For example, it regulates the menstrual cycle and helps with the growth of eggs. The FSH values change during the cycle. The values are highest during ovulation. In men, FSH ensures production of sperm and the values do not change that much. FSH research can also demonstrate the start of menopause. Increased FSH values can indicate that a woman is going through menopause.
The luteinizing hormone (LH) is closely linked to FSH. LH is also important for sexual development. LH levels are highest just before ovulation. The LH hormone is therefore also detected in urine tests. used as a method to determine ovulation, which is the time when the chance of pregnancy is greatest with intercourse. At the onset of menopause, when no more eggs are maturing, the LH hormone will also increase. This increase can be comparable to the LH value of a normal cycle.
